On 7th and 8th of November 2009, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Toronto and Indonesian community has participated in Road to Asia festival, the annual multicultural event held in Japanese Canadian Culture Centre for two days respectively in every September. Apart of Indonesia, there were several communities like Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Cambodian, Philippino, Tibetans, Taiwanese, Thai and Vietnamese also involved.
This Festival exhibited the Asian traditional dances, foods and handy crafts bazaar, martial arts and coloring competition for kids, each was simultaneously held in the different rooms. As in art and culture show, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia performed the Indonesian traditional dance Renggong Betawi (three dancers) and wooden music, called Kolintang presenting three songs: Hujan Sore-sore, You Are My Sunshine and Nona Manis. The Indonesian Canadian Community Association (ICCA) presented the Cenderawasih dance on the first day and the Saman dance on the second day.
There was a booth managed by the Indonesian Consulate to promote the tourism and handy craft products of Indonesia apart from two food stalls and one handy craft booth participating in the festival.
