Speech of the 8thAsian Community Games 2012

6/26/2012

To all participants of the 8thAsian Community Games 2012,

On behalf of Indonesian Communities in Greater Toronto Area, I am pleased to extend my sincere congratulations to the committee and all participants ofthe 8th Asian Community Games 2012.

Allow me to convey my conviction that sport plays a much broader role than just providing physical activity opportunities. It promotes health and wellbeing and weaves the social fabric on which our communities are built, while helping to preserve and nurturefriendship between nations.

As an annual multicultural sport event, The Asian Community Games promotes and supports sports and cultural programs for the youths and adults in Canada. I believe that the ACG will encourage and facilitate the development of good character, leadership, citizenship and sportsmanship of all the participating athletes as well as all people involved in thisoccasion.

As ambassadors for each of the countries or regions you represent, I hope you will work together to further these ideals, uphold the values of peace and harmony through sport and commit to carrying on the fine traditions of the ACG and contribute to peaceful coexistence amongst the members of multicultural societies in Canada.

I wish the 8th Asian Community Games every success!
