​​​​​​​​​​Visitation Visa ​

Visitation Visa or Visit Visa is  issued for a foreign citizen bearer of regular passport who wishes to visit Indonesia for a short period of time of which doesn't involve paid-working activities. Please be advised that the Embassy holds the right to deny any applicant that is deemed ineligible without disclosing the reason or to determine the type and duration of visa appropriate for travel.


Type of visitation visa:

a.Tourist Visa
Requirements:
1)​A passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of entry into Indonesia, which has at least one blank page for visa (amendment and endorsement pages cannot be used for visa).
​2)Two recent color photographs (passport size) with white background on picture-quality paper. Note: Do not staple or affixed the photographs on the form.
​3)Completed and signed application form (in duplicate). Download here.
​4)Copy of inbound and outbound travel itinerary or a letter from travel agents, airline, steamship company, confirming the purchase of tickets.
​5)Applicants under 18 years of age should attach a notarized copy of birth certificate. In addition, a notarized letter of consent signed by non-traveling legal guardian must be attached if the applicant under 18 years of age travels without the legal guardian.
​6)Letter of employment, indicating the employment status of the applicant. For retiree, please submit proof of the retirement fund. For students please provide letter of intent from the school stating that the student still enrolled at the school.
​7)Copy of bank statement, indicating the current applicant's bank account in the last two weeks, or a letter from the bank stating that the applicant has a sufficient fund (at least USD 1500)
​8)For Non-Bulgarian, Albanian, or Macedonian citizen: Please provide of Bulgarian, Albanian, or Macedonian Permanent Residence/ID Card.​

b.Business Visa
​​Requirements:
​1)A passpo​rt with at least 6 months validity for single entry or 1 year for multiple entry from the date of entry into Indonesia, which has at least one blank page for visa (amendment and endorsement pages cannot be used for visa).
​2)​Two recent color photographs (passport size) with white background on picture-quality paper. Note: Do not staple or affixed the photographs on the form.
3)​​Completed and signed application form (in duplicate) Download here.
​4)​Invitation letter from counterparts in Indonesia, describing the purpose of the visit.
​5)​Letter of intent from sponsor in Indonesia, guaranteeing all transportation and living expenses that will incur in Indonesia.

c.​​​Soci​o-cultural Visa
Requirements:
1)​​A passport with at least 6 months validity for single entry or 1 year for multiple entry from the date of entry into Indonesia, which has at least one blank page for visa (amendment and endorsement pages cannot be used for visa).
​2)​Two recent color photographs (passport size) with white background on picture-quality paper. Note: Do not staple or affixed the photographs on the form.
​3)​Completed and signed application form (in duplicate). Download here.​
4)​​Letter of invitation from family, social organization, school/university or cultural residence in Indonesia, which describes the purpose of the visit and guaranteeing all transportation and living expenses that will incur during stay.
​5)​Copy of the K.T.P (Indonesian ID Card) of the principal/person who signed the letter of Invitation if the person is an Indonesian citizen.
​6)​Copy of KIMS/KITAS (Indonesian Immigration's temporary stay permit) of the principal/person who is a non-Indonesian citizen that sponsoring your visit, or Identification card for foreigner. Foreign citizen in Indonesia who does not have KIMS/KITAS nor Identification Card for Foreign National could not sponsor a family visit.

d. Journalist Visa
​ ​​A Journalist Visa is a visa issued to foreign citizens who intend to visit Indonesia for journalist activities, media coverage, or commercial/non-commercial filming/video shooting activities. Please note the process to obtain a Journalist Visa takes approximately 6-8 weeks.


Procedure to obtain journalist visa:

​1)​Contact the Embassy of Indonesia in Sofia to inform of the intended visit.
​2)​Complete and sign the application form (download form).
​3)​Submit a signed checklist with items listed (in separate pages with company header) from one of the following depending on your purpose of visit.
  • For news coverage
  • For foreign correspondent
  • For filmmaker
4)​​Once arrived in Indonesia, you must collect a Temporary Press ID Card, by submitting copy of passport and visa, two colored photographs (3×4 cm) and Letter of Notification provided by the Embassy/Consulate General of Indonesia where the visa was issued, at:​​​

5)​Based on your purpose of activities, you may be required to apply to follow up the following actions. Depending on your case, it is advisable to apply ahead of time:

For film and video shooting, please collect Temporary Film and Video Shooting Permit once you arrive in Indonesia, at:

We advise you to engage with a local partner or fixer in Indonesia to assist with your project and permit paperwork. Please note that, in c​ertain areas/districts, you may be required to involve local crew as a supporting team appointed by the Directorate of Film of the Ministry of Tourism.
Processing Time, Payment, and Pick-Up
Please note that decision of approval by authorities in Indonesia will take approximately 6-8 weeks after receipt of the compl​eted aforementioned requirements in steps 1-3. Following approval from authorities in Indonesia, we will inform you to bring or mail with a pre-paid envelope to the Embassy; passport(s), 2 passport photographs, and bank transfer confirmation for each applicant made out to The Embassy of Indonesia. If you are bringing equipment there will be an additional documents legalization fee per copy.

In approximately 3-5 business days, we will further inform the applicant regarding the date and time to collect his/her visa.
e. Researc​h Visa
​Researcher(s) from other countries are welcome to carry out research in Indonesia. All foreign researchers doing research activities in Indonesia must obtain an official permit from the Indonesian authority in advanced.

​Please note that the Embassy/Consulate Generals will not process a research visa application without an official notification or a formal approval from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and Technology, and the Directorate General of Immigration.

4)​​Researcher Visa Authorization Letter from the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration after completing an online foreign research application. Note: An application will not be processed without a formal notification of authorization from the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration. To initiate and expedite the process of the Authorization, it is advisable that the applicant's sponsor in Indonesia submit a request for authorization to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and Technology and the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta, Indonesia. Please make sure that the notification is addressed to the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate Generals in which the visa will be issued.Applicants under 18 years of age should attach a notarized copy of birth certificate. In addition, a notarized letter of consent signed by non-traveling legal guardian must be attached if the applicant under 18 years of age travels without the legal guardian.
5)​For Non-Bulgarian, Albanian, or Macedonian citizen: Please provide of Bulgarian, Albanian, or Macedonian Permanent Residence/ID Card.​​​​
Note: Please be advised that the embassy holds the right to deny any applicant that is deemed ineligible without disclosing the reason ot to determine the type and duration of visa appropriate for travel. 

A visa entitles the holder to travel to Indonesia, but it does not guarantee entry. An immigration officer at the port of entry determines the visa holder's eligibility before entering Indonesia.


Transit Visa is no longer available. Visitor wishes to transit thru Indonesia on the way to a foreign de​stination, to a country of origin, to join a transport vehicle that will continue its journey outside Indonesia territory must apply for a single entry visa.

Please be advised that cash payment is no longer accepted for all consular transactions. The embassy will only accept the payment through bank transfers.


Processing Time

A consular application is usually completed within three to five working days, starting from the date that the completed application and bank transfer confirmation are dropped off directly (by hand) at the Consular Office.
