As stated at the meeting between the Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria, H.E. Mr. Immanuel Robert Inkiriwang and the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, who was accompanied by Vice Rector of Business and Communication, Dr. Ir. Arif Imam Suroso, at the IPB Building, Bogor 6th December 2010.
On the occasion, the Ambassador expressed the interest of the Bulgarian Agricultural Academy (AAB) to establish cooperation with IPB, especially in the field of cooperative research, student and research staff exchange, and the organization of joint workshops, as affirmed in the letter to the Rector of IPB from the President of AAB, Prof. Dr. Svetla Batchvarova.
The cooperation between IPB and AAB will certainly support the efforts to further enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia-Bulgaria, also following the agreement between the two countries to enhance agriculture cooperation, as agreed at the 4th Joint Commission Meeting Indonesia and Bulgaria in Sofia, 31 May -1 June 2010.
In this regard, the IPB Rector welcomed this offer and said that it will soon study the collaboration and to continue on the progress. He also added the fact that the IPB has had much international cooperation with various universities and other research bodies in the world such as Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and Hungary.
AAB is a major agricultural research institute in Bulgaria that also offers Master Degree in University education. The Academy is under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Bulgaria; however, uniquely the AAB President is directly accountable and appointed by the Prime Minister of Bulgaria (Embassy in Sofia).
