On the Occassion of
Press Conference to Promote Indonesian Tourism in Korea
KOTFA, 5 June 2009

Mr. Sapta Nirwandar, Director General of Marketing, Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism;
Mr. I Gde Pitana, Director of International Promotion;
Dr. Kim Ye Kyeom, Director of Visit Indonesia Tourism Office (VITO);

Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is a great honor for me to be here at this gathering to introduce Indonesia in Korea. In this opportunity, I also would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Visit Indonesia Tourism Office (VITO) who made this remarkable gathering possible.

I wish to express my sincerest thank to all distinguished participants for giving your valuable time to attend this press conference despite your very busy schedule. Today’s program is one among a series of activities of Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism which will provide an avenue for the participants especially Korean medias and tour operators to get first-hand information on Indonesia’s tourism information and potentials.

Last week, Indonesia has successfully participated in Jeju World Culture and Travel Expo in Jeju Island, as a side event during the ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit. It was a great cooperation between the Embassy, Visit Indonesia Tourism Office (VITO), and Indonesian Students Association of Korea who performed Indonesian cultural performances. I am proud to find that the existence of Visit Indonesia Tourism Office (VITO) has brought many benefits to help Indonesia to promote Indonesian culture and tourism in Korea, not only in Seoul, but also in any other cities in Korea.

Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Indonesia is very rich, not only in art and culture, but also in natural resources. Despite the cultural diversity with traditional customs, Indonesia also offers metropolitan tourism activities such as shopping, sightseeing in big cities, golfing, spa, and enjoying modern amusement parks.
I am proud to say that Indonesia has set many developments in many fields, as well as many new infrastructures, to support culture and tourism sector. I believe that this Press Conference would provide the newest information about Indonesian tourism. Our Embassy in Seoul also provides much information about Indonesia. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any information, and we will provide you with leaflets, brochures, and the newest information necessary.

Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let my conclude my remarks by conveying a hope that this event will widen and strengthen the relationship between the two countries in many years to come.

Thank you.
