DWP Santiago and Embassy Staff Members in Santiago Extended Help for Flood Victims of Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo, North of Chile

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

On April 8, 2015, DWP Santiago and the Embassy’s Staff Members have provided assistance in the form of food and basic necessities for the flood victims of Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo, North of Chile. The help are voluntary donations from The Embassy’s Extended Family in Santiago and are going to be delivered through The Association of Diplomatic spouses in Chile/La Asociacion de Damas Diplomáticas.

DWP Santiago and the Embassy’s Staff Members in Santiago have also extended their sympathy and profound grief for the victims of this tragedy. They also provided their prayers, and profound hope that the people in the region can soon recovery and return to normal day life.
As it is known, on the 25-26 of March, 2015 the region of Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo suffered heavy floods and landslides that were caused by intense rainfall. This tragedy resulted in dozens of victims and dozens more who were injured. In addition, tens of thousands of people are also forced to live in temporarily displacement areas due to damage in the infrastructure and limited access to electricity and clean water.
