?It was the result of talks between the delegations of the MPR-RI, led by the Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR-RI), Mr. Sidarto Danusubroto with the President of Majelis Mustasyarin (upper house) of the Moroccan Parliament, Dr. Mohammed Cheikh Biadillah in the Office of the Parliament of Morocco, Thursday, September 4, 2014.

The trade value between Indonesia and Morocco in the period of January-June 2014 stood at US$ 120 million, and Indonesia experienced a trade deficit of US$ 47.3 million. After the meeting, the Speaker of the MPR-RI and the President of the Majelis Mustasyarin of the Moroccan Parliament observed a Photo Exhibition of the Visit of the Indonesian President Soekarno in Morocco in 1960.
Earlier, the Speaker of the MPR-RI and the delegation also had a meeting with the Head of Government of Morocco, Prime Minister Abdelillah Benkirane at the Office of the Head of Moroccan Government, September 3, 2014. On that occasion, the Moroccan Prime Minister hoped that the Speaker of MPR-RI could help encourage the increase of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Morocco, among others, through the realization of the second meeting of the Joint Commission Meeting between Indonesia and Morocco, which has been pending since 2010. The first meeting of the Indonesia-Morocco Joint Commission Meeting took place in June 2008 in Rabat.
The MPR-RI delegation was in Rabat 2-5 September 2014 for a working visit, and chaired by the Speaker of MPR-RI Sidarto Danusubroto, Deputy Speaker of the MPR-RI Hajriyanto Y. Thohari, Deputy Speaker of the MPR-RI Melani Leimena Suharli, and was also followed by five other members of the MPR-RI.

In addition to meeting with the President of the Majelis Mustasyarin and the Head of Moroccan Government, the delegation also laid a wreath at the Mausoleum (Tomb) of King Mohammed V and King Hassan II. The delegation also had a meeting and dialogue with the Indonesian community in Morocco on September 3, 2014. In his message to the people of Indonesia in Morocco, mostly students, the Speaker of the MPR-RI emphasized the need for a vigorous and earnest effort of every citizen to help promote Indonesian development. Indonesian students abroad should also have pride in being Indonesian citizens, because Indonesia is a large and respected country, especially in Africa. The Speaker of the MPR-RI also reiterated the message of President Soekarno to never forget the history of Indonesia. Indonesia played a major role in the independence of Morocco, with the participation of the Moroccan independence fighters in the Asia-Africa Conference in 1955. Morocco gained its independence in 1956, and President Soekarno was the first head of state who made an official visit to Morocco in 1960.
