Indonesian Food Festival Becomes an Icon of Diplomatic Reception in Commemorating the 68th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

?This event is quite unique, combining a diplomatic reception in the middle of serving a variety of Indonesian culinary. Besides to commemorate the 68th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence, this activity is an attempt to introduce and promote Indonesia in the country of accreditation through culinary.

The clink of dishes and flatware as well as queuing around ten Indonesian food stall, showed a high enthusiasm from the audience to directly try typical Indonesian culinary tastes, like Gado-gado, Fried Rice, Chicken Satay, Ikan Asam Padeh, Empal Daging, Dendeng Balado, Rendang, Chicken Soup, and dessert like pastel and risoles. In addition to giving the impression of Indonesian traditional peculiarities and to strengthen the appearance and presentation, the meals are beautifully arranged in the stalls which are designed and prepared specially for this event. A variety of Indonesian dishes are prepared by Indonesian Woman Association (Dharma Wanita Persatuan) and family of Indonesian Embassy in Pyongyang.

The diplomatic reception held on 19 August 2013 at Ballroom of Pothonggang Hotel of Pyongyang. This event is the last event of a series of activities in commemorating the 68th Anniversary of Proclamation of Indonesian Independence in DPR Korea.
On the occasion, the Government of DPR Korea delegated the Minister of Foreign Trade, H.E. Mr. Ri Ryong Nam as the guest of honor, accompanied by high officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of People’s Armed Forces, Ministry of Land and Maritime Tranportation, Central Committee of Workers Party of Korea, Indonesia-Korea Friendship Association, Committee of Kimilsungia Flowers, Kim Il Sung University, Municipal of Pyongyang City and so on.

In his remark, Indonesian Ambassador, Nasri Gustaman among others expressed the development and achievements of Indonesia in political, economic and socio-cultural, bilateral relations between Indonesia and DPR Korea, and pace of the ASEAN Committee in Pyongyang (ACP). Ambassador stressed the need for both countries to enhance economic relations and in other areas by exploring the various ways and means that can be improved bilateral relations and benefit the people of both countries.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Minister Ri conveyed a congratulation message from the Government and people of DPR Korea to the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia for the celebration of the 68th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence while praising Indonesia's ability in defending its sovereignty and unity, improving political stability, and promoting economic development and prosperity of its people. The Minister expressed that bilateral relations between the two countries continues to grow well and an optimistic that the two governments will continue to make necessary efforts to boost the ties and cooperation in various fields, based on the principles of freedom, peace and friendship.
