Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), HE. Mr. Bambang Hiendrasto presented his letter of credent to the President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of DPRK, HE. Mr. Kim Yong Nam during a ceremony at the Assembly Hall of the Supreme People's Assembly in Pyongyang (15/01). Following the credentials ceremony, a meeting held between the President of the Presidium and the Ambassador.

 

The President of the Presidium initiated the meeting by expressing warmest greetings to the President and people of the Republic of Indonesia, HE. Mr. Joko Widodo. The Ambassador also conveyed best wishes of President Joko Widodo to the President of the Presidium and a hope for the prosperity of the people of the DPRK. In addition, the Ambassador thanked the President of the Presidium of the words of sympathy and deepest condolences extended by the Government and People of the DPRK in connection with a plane crash in Indonesia recently.

 

Furthermore, the President of the Presidium and the Ambassador briefly discuss the development of bilateral relations between Indonesia and the DPRK which has been intertwined for more than 50 years, which was pioneered by President Soekarno and President Kim Il Sung. According to the President of the Presidium, Indonesia is very close, friendly and important country for the DPRK. He added that Indonesian Ambassador's assignment is in a special year for the DPRK, because in 2015 the DPRK will celebrate 70 years of the founding of the DPRK and 70 years of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 50-year of Kimilsungia flower which is a symbol of friendship between Indonesia and the DPRK.

 

President of the Presidium believes that the Ambassador will be able to carry out his tasks and missions well in DPRK and confident that bilateral relations of both countries will be more closely and increasing. To achieve it, the President of the Presidium provides confidence and full support to the Ambassador.

 

Indonesian Ambassador expressed gratitude for the trust and support given by the President of the Presidium and is committed to improving bilateral relations in various fields of cooperation, and for it, expects the support and cooperation of related stakeholders in both countries.

 

On that occasion, the Ambassador conveyed that Indonesia will host the “60th Commemoration of the Asian-African Conference” in Jakarta and Bandung on 18 to 24 April 2015. The official invitation to the President of the Presidium and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK will be delivered in due course. The Indonesian Ambassador expects the President of the Presidium is pleased to attend the Commemoration of the Asian-African Conference.

 

The Credentials ceremony and the meeting went smoothly and orderly. The occasion was attended by officials from the Supreme People's Assembly, the DPRK Foreign Ministry and the Indonesian Embassy in Pyongyang.
