Indonesia and North Korea Have Ministerial Level Bilateral Talks on Youth and Sports in Pyongyang

The Indonesian State Minister of Youth and Sports Andi A. Mallarangeng had a meeting with his counterpart, the Korean Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Pak Myong Chol in Pyongyang on 27 September 2012. The meeting was part of the program of the working visit to Pyongyang on 26 – 29 September 2012 by the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Delegation led by State Minister Mallarangeng. The visit was a follow-up of the bilateral talks between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and President Kim Yong Nam in Jakarta on 15 May 2012 in which the two leaders discussed on the possibilities to further increase bilateral relations, including exchange visits by the two countries’ officials.

 

In Pyongyang, the meeting at the Ministerial level which was the continuation of the earlier meeting at the Senior Officials level between the Indonesian State Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Korean Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports resulted to a marked commitment by both sides to have an enhanced bilateral cooperation on matters related to youth and sports.

 

During his visit to Pyongyang, State Minister Mallarangeng also met with Chairman of Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League Jon Yong Nam and had a courtessy call to Vice-President Yang Hyong Sop. State Minister Mallarangeng also visited various places to watch the Korean youth and athletes while doing their practices and training.

 

The Indonesian Delegation departed Pyongyang on Saturday, 29 September 2012.
