Dehradun, March 16
Ambassador of Indonesia Lt Gen Andi Muhammad Ghalib (retd) and Andi Murniati Ghalib today paid a courtesy visit on Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva.
During the courtesy visit, Lt General Ghalib apprised the Governor about the steps being taken between the two countries for strengthening cultural ties and promotion of tourism.
The Ambassador of Indonesia said approval had already been given for the construction of an ashram at Haridwar for pilgrims coming from Bali.
He said to promote tourism, Indonesia would also take up a joint venture for the construction of an international hotel in Uttarakhand.
On the occasion, Alva presented a memorandum to the Ambassador.
The Ambassador also held extensive discussions with Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. He congratulated the Chief Minister for finding time for literary pursuits, despite a hectic public life. He also extended invitation to the Chief Minister to visit Indonesia in the future.
