In order to improve the connectivity between Indonesia and the Philippines, particularly in the tourism sector, the Philippines flag carrier airlines, the Philippines Airlines (PAL), opens a new direct flight connecting Manila, the Philippines, and Denpasar, Bali-Indonesia, twice a week (on Wednesday and Saturday). The new flight was officially launched on Saturday, April 28, 2012. The launching was held in Mall of Asia, Pasay City, attended by the Ambassador of Indonesia to the Philippines. Y. Kristiarto S. Legowo, together with some diplomats from the Embassy, as well as the Vice President for Marketing Support of PAL, Mr. Felix J. Cruz. Moreover, the Indonesian Embassy, as one of the official representatives of the Government of Indonesia in the Philippines, shows warm welcome and support for the opening of the new route, and has high hope that it will promote the two countries’ tourism by enhancing the visits of tourists to and from both countries via Bali. With higher frequency of visits among the peoples of Indonesia and the Philippines, the bilateral relationship of the two neighboring countries could be further strengthened, particularly through the people-to-people contacts which will increase the friendly relationships that the Indonesia and the Philippines already have.
