Indonesia Proclaimed “Wonderful” Indonesia has launched a new tourism campaign slogan this year- “Wonderful Indonesia”. This brand will be used to promote the country’s tourism sector for two years. “Wonderful Indonesia” has been integrated in new methods of social media, including image blogging and a YouTube channel. By targeting a more tech-savvy audience, Indonesian tourism is reaching out to new audiences to display its ultimate diversity as a forward-thinking destination. Wonderful Indonesia is being marketed as the island of a thousand faces. From the sparkling beaches to lush rainforests, outdoor adventure and culture, this multi-island destination offers a remarkable wealth of diversity. With the new branding, Indonesia describes its Nature, Culture, Food, People and Value for Money.

Visiting the Island of Lombok-Sumbawa in 2012 Indonesia is campaigning for Visit Lombok-Sumbawa 2012 and Lombok is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nusa Tenggara, part of Indonesia’s archipelago. Lombok welcomes visitors to the island of unsurpassed diversity, culture and a range of activities. Shop for south sea pearls, hand-woven fabrics, arts and crafts around Lombok’s capital city, Mataram. There is also world class hiking in Mount Rinjani National Park, Lombok’s icon, and an active volcano. The rugged coastlines with uncrowded white sand beaches serve as a playground for surfers, swimmers and divers. Cafes, bars and restaurants in Senggigi, Lombok’s tourist strip, is also a short hop to the famous Gili Islands. Just to the east of Lombok lies the less-visited yet equally spectacular island of Sumbawa where volcanic ridges, jungles and rice terraces drop down into secluded, white sand bays. Visitors can enjoy surfing at Lakey beach, climb the volcano of Mt Tambora, and explore sleepy backwaters. Hidden away in the jungles of Pulau Moyo (‘Pulau’ is Indonesian for island), the exclusive Amanwana is a haven for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts.

Visiting South Sulawesi in 2012 The Indonesian Tourism Authority has announced 2012 to be the official Visit South Sulawesi Year. South Sulawesi is the southernmost province of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, bordered by Central Sulawesi, South-east Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi. Its capital, Makassar, is the regional centre and the largest city on the island. This province may be the most populated region of the island, but it also offers such outdoor activities as snorkelling off Pulau Lihukan, exploring ancient cave drawings in Gua Leang Leang, visiting the waterfalls at Air Tejun Bantimurung and strolling along the beaches and markets of Ujung Pandang.

Indonesia Reports a Rise in Visitor Figures By August, the number of visitors to Indonesia for 2011 reached 4,964,167- a 5.89% increase from the number reached in the same period of 2010. This marked Indonesia reaching 64.47% of their target of 7.7 million visitors for 2011. From January to August 2011, there have been 128,120 recorded visitors from the United Kingdom to Indonesia, a 1.78% increase from the same period in 2010. With that number, Indonesia has reached 69.25% of their target of 185,000 British visitors in Indonesia for 2011. With such achievement, the Indonesian government is optimistic that their target number of visitors for 2011 can be reached.

Indonesia to Host 2012 ASEAN Tourism Forum In January 2012, Indonesia will host the ASEAN Tourism Forum. More than 1,600 delegates are expected, including about 400 international buyers and 100 international media. Tourism has always been a focal point of the Indonesian economy. Constant efforts are made to provide a destination that is a blend of natural beauty, cultural riches and modern facilities that rival any destination in the world. The guests’ safety and enjoyment is of prime importance. Indonesia’s special focus in Eco Tourism in particular has been an effective tool for conservation and protection of natural resources while also promoting inclusive development of local communities.
