Indonesia and the United States agreed to foster bilateral relations in various fields through the optimization of Joint Commission meeting. Besides reaffirming the importance of strengthening the bilateral relations in the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership which was launched in 2010, it is also understood the need for flexibility in the approach to the regular meeting mechanism.

​Indo-Pacific region plays an important role from geopolitics and economic perspectives both in the region and globally. As a dynamic region, there are three major challenges to ensure this region as a peaceful region, namely the trust-deficit in relations among the countries in the region, the existence of territorial disputes which are still unresolved, and the challenge to manage the dynamic changes in the region.
