Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, had his official visit to Indonesia on 7-8 August 2012. His visit was at the invitation of Foreign Minister Marty M. Natalegawa.
FM Nalbandian is scheduled to meet Indonesian FM; Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jero Wacik; and Head of Indonesian House of Representatives, Irman Gusman, tomorrow in a talk regarding various efforts of promoting bilateral cooperation in political, economic and socio-cultural sectors.
During his two day visit, he is also scheduled to sign an Agreement on Economic, Science and Engineering Cooperation between Indonesia and Armenia.
The Republic of Armenia is a former Soviet Union country that gained its independence on 21 September 1991.
The country has a population of 2.970.495 inhabitants and shares borders with Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The total area of this country is 29.800 km2 and having GDP per capita of USD 5.400.
The trade value between Indonesia and Armenia stood at USD 6,4 million in 2011, consisting of USD 6.372.500 worth of export and USD 57.100 worth of import for Indonesia. Indonesia enjoyed a surplus of USD 6.315.400 from such trade. (Source: Directorate of Central and East European Affairs)
