Hundreds of elementary students in the Institucion Educativa Decision La Campesina, Pativilca district, municipality of Barranca, Lima were waving Indonesian flags made of paper to welcome the representatives from the Indonesian Embassy in Lima who visited their school on December 15, 2010.

The representatives intended to attend the program of Evento de Amor, a program which was aimed at providing assistance to children from poor families in the municipality of Barranca, Lima. In this charity program, these children are given Christmas gifts, milk and snacks.

The Indonesian Embassy donated some gifts for those children and to appreciate this, the Institucion Educativa Decision La Campesina invited the Indonesian Embassy to attend in this event.

In the program of Evento de Amor, the representative from the committee, Ramon Morales, an observer of children education in Barranca, donated Christmas gifts to approximately 253 elementary students and 37 other children who resided around the school.

The event was attended by Mayor Barranca, Orlando Alberto Tapia Olivares, Prof. Augusto Manuel Rosales Ortega, Director of Local Unidades de Gestion Educative, Barranca (Barranca´s Education Agency) and representatives of district governments Pativilca. The aid that was donated to the Institucion Educativa La Campesina Decision is one of the forms of Indonesian soft diplomacy in Peru. Indonesia and Peru have been maintaining a fruitful diplomatic relations for 35 years. Both countries continue to improve bilateral relations in all fields, particularly in promoting people-to-people contact.

With Indonesia´s participation, it is expected that Indonesia will be better known by Peruvians especially by the people in Barranca, a city which is about 175 km from Lima.
