UPDATED PRESS RELEASE OF INDONESIAN EMBASSY IN KYIV REGARDING THE TRAGEDY OF MALAYSIAN PLANE MH-017 CRASH

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kyiv, Ukraine, convey our grief for the deaths of 295 passengers and crew of the plane MH-017 that was shot down in Donetsk region, Eastern Ukraine. The Embassy of Indonesia in Ukraine prays for strength to the families of the victims during this difficult moment and expresses its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of all victims, particularly to the families of the Indonesian citizens who have been confirmed as among the victims of the tragedy.
 
In order to clarify the causes of the tragedy and ensure the facilitation from the Local Government, Indonesian Embassy in Kyiv keeps exerting maximum efforts to coordinate with the Ukrainian government such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, as well as several foreign Embassies in Ukraine, whose citizens are the victims of the plane MH-17 crash. Especially, related to the follow-up process of evacuation, identification and repatriation of the deceased to their families to the homeland.
 
In this regard, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, on July 17, 2014 has established Emergency State Commission to investigate the tragedy. The Ukrainian Government has appointed the Deputy Prime Minister, Vorlodymyr Groysman, as a Chairman of the Commission. In the meantime, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has convey the following information to the Embassy:

• The Ukrainian authority is ready to transfer The bodies of the victims from the crash site to the city of Kharkiv, where a special laboratory and coordination unit are being deployed;
• The Ukrainian authority is ready to arrange hotel accommodation forfree of charge in Kyiv and Kharkiv for nearly 300 family members of victims;
The Ukrainian authority is ready to provide all necessary assistance to the relatives arriving in Kharkiv or Kyiv; 
• The Ukrainian authority is ready to provide Visa on Arrival in Kyiv and / or Kharkiv for those who require such visa.
 
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on July 17, 2014 has opened the Crisis Response Unit (24 hours response) via telephone (+38044) 279 62 06, 238 16 57 fax (+38044) 253 11 24, and e-mail: cons_vor2@mfa.gov.ua to provide more information to the families of the victims and other foreign Embassies. The Ukrainian government has also opened Coordination Center in the city of Kharkiv with the following telephone number and e-mail address:
