INDONESIAN CONSULATE GENERAL LAUNCHED A NEW MECHANISM FOR RENEWAL OF EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT WITHOUT EMPLOYMENT AGENCY OR PRIVATE INDONESIAN MANPOWER SUPPLIER COMPANY (PPTKIS) STARTING FROM 1 JANUARY 2017

INDONESIAN CONSULATE GENERAL LAUNCHED A NEW MECHANISM FOR RENEWAL OF EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT WITHOUT EMPLOYMENT AGENCY OR PRIVATE INDONESIAN MANPOWER SUPPLIER COMPANY (PPTKIS)

STARTING FROM 1 JANUARY 2017

1.     Following statement made by the Indonesian Consul General, Mr. Tri Tharyat today, Indonesian Consulate General introduced a new mechanism for the renewal of Employment Contract without using the services of Employment Agency or Private Indonesian Manpower Supplier Company (PPTKIS) that shall entry into effect on 1 January 2017. The new mechanism is based on the Consul General Decree Number 106/XII/2016 dated 14 of December 2016 regarding the Legalization Requirements and Procedures for Renewal of Employment Contract between Indonesian Domestic Helper and the Same Employer without Employment Agency and Private Indonesian Manpower Supplier Company (PPTKIS).

2.     Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong strives to improve the quality of its services and protections to all Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong especially for migrant workers in accordance with the status of the Consulate as one of Indonesia's citizen service's missions abroad. This is one of many reasons that lies behind the enactment of the Decree.

3.     The new mechanism is basically applicable to those workers who already finished their previous 2 (two) years' employment contract working with the same employer. They shall do it voluntarily and with the consent of both parties (the employer and the domestic helper). The employer shall subsequently submit a letter of application to the Consulate General stating their wish to renew the contract and a statement of guarantee that they already fulfilled all the basic employment rights from their previous contract according to the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance Chapter 57, along with other general supporting documents.

4.     The employer or the domestic helper must submit the application in person to the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia office in Hong Kong for further document's verification.
