DARMASISWA RI PROGRAM 2011/2012

DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered by the government of the Republic of Indonesia to foreign students from countries with which Indonesia has diplomatic relations. Organized by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), this program offers the opportunity to learn Indonesian language and arts, which include music, dance, shadow puppet mastery. Participants can choose their place of study from 48 participating universities and colleges.

 

The main purpose of the Darmasiswa program is to accommodate foreign students’ interest and enthusiasm to thoroughly learn Indonesian language and arts, as well as to foster cultural appreciation and build closer cultural links between Indonesian people and citizens of other countries.

 

The Darmasiswa program is essentially a non-degree program of one year or 6-month period of study. During their time of study, participants are prohibited from engaging in any research, political and/or business activities which may lead to personal profit/gain.

 

Darmasiswa program offers two schemes:

1.    One-year Darmasiswa RI Program

Participants will have the opportunity to study Indonesian language and arts (traditional music and dance, as well as Indonesian craft) at the selected Indonesian university/college.

 

2.    Six-month Darmasiswa RI Program

Participants will be focusing to study the Indonesian language at the selected Indonesian university/college.

 

 

 

A.    SCHOLARSHIP

 

The Darmasiswa program will grant the Awardees with the scholarships which include tuition fee and monthly allowance of Rp. 1.500.000 (one million rupiah, equivalent to around HK$ 1,300).

 

B.    PARTICIPANTS REQUIREMENTS

 

The applicants for the Darmasiswa RI Program must meet the following requirements:

1.    Being less than 35 years old.

2.    Having completed Secondary Education.

3.    Having excellent health, proven by a medical certificate.

4.    Demonstrates English proficiency (especially for daily communication).

5.    Submit completed application form and required documents before deadline.

 

C.    REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

 

1.    A completed application form (available online or can be obtained from the Consulate General).

2.    Signed the provided statement letter.

3.    A copy of passport valid for at least 18 months.

4.    Medical certificate or recommendation letter from a physician from participant’s country of residence (in English).

5.    Five pieces of recent colored photo size 4 x 6 cm (red background).

6.    A copy of academic transcript.

 

Note: Please be advised all participants who will study at the University of Indonesia, the academic program will commence in July 2011.

E.    SCHEDULE OF PROGRAM

 

1.    Application submission deadline: 28 February 2011

2.    Announcement of selected participants: First week of April 2011

3.    Participants confirmation deadline: June 2011

4.    Arrival and orientation program: first week of August 2011.

5.    Academic program commencement: mid of August 2011 to July 2012 (for 1-year program) or August 2011 to January 2012 (for 6-month program).

 

 

F.      VISA ARRANGEMENT

 

For their study in Indonesia, the Darmasiswa participants are required to have a social visit visa (Visa Kunjungan Sosial Budaya/VKSB) issued by the Consulate GeneraI of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong.

 

Upon their arrival in Indonesia, the MoNE will arrange for application of Limited Stay Visa (Visa Tinggal Terbatas/VITAS) valid for 1 year.

 

Please be advised, participants are NOT allowed to apply a Tourist Visa to participate this program.

 

 

G.    AIRFARE TICKET, ACCOMODATION & HEALTH INSURANCE

 

1.    The awardees are responsible for their own air flight ticket to and from Indonesia.

2.    Upon the arrival at the airport, the committee from MoNE will arrange a local transportation to take participants to the university/temporary accommodation.

3.    Please be advised the scholarship Awardees are required to afford their own accommodation during their period of study, nevertheless the university/college will assist the awardees in finding a accommodation to rent.

4.    The participants are expected to have an international health insurance since it is not provided by the organizing committee.

 

 

H.    RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR AWARDEES

 

This program shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, any claim or legal action arising relating this program, the regulations of the Republic of Indonesia shall rule. By entering this scholarship program the Awardees agree to be bound by the following rules and regulations:

1.    Agree to abide the law of the Republic of Indonesia.

2.    Agree to abide the rules and regulations of the university or college of study.

3.    Complete the whole period of their study.

4.    Willing to assist the university/college in teaching of their mother language and/or other languages.

5.    Never change or convert either the subject or place of study prior or upon arrival in Indonesia.

6.    Refrain oneself from engaging in any political activities and/or any form of employment for which result in gaining profit.

7.    Never get involved in any misconduct and/or any kind of harassment toward anyone.

8.    Female awardees must refrain themselves from being pregnant.

9.    Must never be involved in any kind of drug trafficking or abuse.

10.  Not travel out of Indonesia during the academic period and not travel out of Indonesia more than once.

11. Fail to observe stay permit and/or the abovementioned rules and regulations will result in returning to home country on their own cost.
