Maximise on Zim - Indonesia relations - Poerwana

11/6/2010

Local companies have been called upon to explore the Indonesian market through exports by taking advantage of the existing bilateral trade relations.

Concerned with the slow pace in which Zimbabwean firms are taking advantage of bilateral relations with Indonesia, Ambassador of the Asian nation to Zimbabwe Mr. Eddy Poerwana says it is high time economic relations with Zimbabwe are reviewed for the benefit of both parties.

Mr. Poerwana’s comments come in the wake of the recently held Indonesian Business Expo from 13 to 18 October which only attracted 3 Zimbabwean firms.

The Indonesian Ambassador said Zimbabwean firms can benefit in terms of joint venture deals with Indonesian firms in various fields that include power generation, paper making, mining and chemical production.

Indonesian companies have over the past few years shown commitment to the revival of the Zimbabwean economy by taking part at national exhibitions such as the Harare Agricultural Show and the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
