?As an effort to introduce the wealth of arts and culture of Indonesia, the Indonesian Embassy in Harare visited the Zimbabwe Republic Police Secondary School (ZRP Secondary School) on June 24, 2015. The Indonesian Embassy team was welcomed by Mr. J.M. Chingonzoh and Mr. Mazhombwe, the Headmaster and the Deputy Headmaster of the ZRP Secondary School.

The Indonesian Embassy team was given the opportunity to make a presentation on Indonesia in front of approximately 600 students from various levels. The team also displayed a short video about Indonesia and one of the Embassy’s staff played “kendang,” the Indonesian traditional musical instruments.

The team also provided the opportunity for the students to ask questions about various things related to Indonesia, including whether there are universities in Indonesia and the name of the President of Indonesia. The students listened well to all the information and answered almost all questions given by the Embassy’s team to get some Indonesian souvenirs.

As a cultural exchange, the students introduced the Embassy’s team to the contemporary music they learned at school that combined modern musical instruments and traditional musical instruments in Zimbabwe, Mbira.

Mr. Chingonzoh highly appreciated the efforts made by the Embassy in Harare to foster a closer people-to-people contacts and expect that the relationship between Indonesia and Zimbabwe can be strengthen in the future.
