As an effort to promote Indonesian film, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Harare Zimbabwe took part in the International Film Festival (ZIFF) from October 4 to 11, 2014 by screening Soekarno, which was directed by Hanung Bramantyo. Soekarno was put into non festival category and screened in Harare and in densely populated areas, e.g. Chitungwiza.
"Sukarno movie screened in Zimbabwe is the long version" explained Ajish Dibyo and Hestu Saputro of Dapur Film which came to this year ZIFF.
Zimbabwe film circles is quite excited about the arrival of Indonesian filmmakers who shared different experiences of film making in various workshops held by ZIFF and guest lecturer at the Zimbabwe Film and Television School of Southern Africa (ZIFTESSA) with the theme “How to Communicate Your Film. "
In addition to the special screening of Soekarno, the Embassy at the Indonesia Night on October 9, featured traditional dance performed by the children of Indonesia, held Indonesia tourism promotion by distributing various tourist promotional materials as well as introduced Indonesian traditional snacks.
