Having an Inter-Married

Requirements for having an Inter-Marriage :

1. An Indonesian nationals willing to get married with a foreign nationals abroad :
  • Must have a reference of marital status and written permission from his/her parents.
  • The reference and written permission must then be legalized by the Directorate of Civil Law, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of Indonesia, the Directorate of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia and the embassy of the state of the above-mentioned foreign nationals.

2. A foreign nationals willing to get married with an Indonesian nationals in Indonesia :

  • Must have a reference of no objection to have an inter-marriage issued by his/her country’s embassy in Indonesia.
  • Must have a reference of marital status and written permission from his/her parents legalized by the Directorate of Civil Law, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of Indonesia, the Directorate of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia and his/her country’s embassy in Indonesia.

3. If there is no such embassy, he/she must contact his /her countries nearest embassy. The reference of no objection to have an inter-marriage in Indonesia, reference of marital status, and written permission from his/her parents and other required documents according to the law of the Republic of Indonesia must be legalized by his/her country’s nearest embassy and the Indonesian embassy in the country where that foreign embassy is located.

4. In Indonesia, documents legalized by the Indonesian embassy are then strengthened by the legalization from the Directorate of Civil Law, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of Indonesia and the Directorate of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. These legalized documents are then given to the authorized marriage official and marriage administrator.

5. A written permission from the respective sponsors and reference of salary.

6. Copy of Passport.
