To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Indonesian Independence, Embassy of the Republic Indonesia in Dar es Salaam hosted a diplomatic reception on September 10, 2015. The reception was attended by more than 200 invitees from diplomatic corps, Tanzanian government officials, entrepreneurs, members of Tanzania Indonesia Friendship Association (TAIFA), and Indonesian citizens. Turut hadir tamu kehormatan, Permanent Secretary Kementerian Pertanian, Ketahanan Pangan, dan Koperasi, Hon.Sophia Khadouma dan Permanent Secretary Kementerian Luar Negeri dan Kerjasama Internasional, Amb. Liberata Mulamula.
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Tanzania, Zakaria Anshar, in his remarks briefed about the development achieved by Indonesia among others are in democracy, economy, education and maritime connectivity and Indonesia’s role in the region and the world. Amb. Zakaria also noted the progress in bilateral relations between Indonesia and Tanzania in many sectors especially in agriculture.
“Indonesia and Tanzania have been enjoying strong and close relations in all fields and we are proud with the progress that we have made. Exchange of visits of high level officials and businessmen which have been made, increased of scholarships granted to Tanzania and the growing number of Tanzanian participating in various training held in Indonesia,” he said.
He also added Indonesia’s commitment to support Tanzania’s agriculture sector through revitalization of Training Centre on Agriculture built by Indonesian Farmers in Morogoro and the convening of training in agriculture participated by 6 African countries on May in Morogoro.
The guest of honor, Sophia Khadouma, appreciates the contribution of Indonesia to the development of Tanzania, particularly in the sector of agriculture. According to Hon. Khadouma, Tanzania recognizes Indonesia as role model in agricultural development, therefore last June, delegates from Tanzanian Ministry of Agriculture conducted a scientific visit to Indonesia.
The Embassy also used the occasion of the reception to promote Indonesia’s development, by screening video on the development of Indonesia, tourism, and promotion of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2015. The Embassy also served Indonesia’s culinary and distributed goody bag of information on Indonesia’s economy, TEI 2015 and Indonesia’s products Indomie sponsored by PT. Indofood.
