Indonesian Missions in the US has assisted Uncen Choir’s group to travel from Indonesia. The assistance was given so that the group may arrive promptly at San Francisco and safely return to the country.
The support was given by the Indonesian Consulate General in Chicago in the form of accommodation and foods for the group in Cincinnati before they left for San Francisco. Along with Indonesian Embassy in Washington, Indonesian Consulate General in Chicago also agreed to give a loan for purchasing the trip tickets for Cincinnati – San Francisco route.
The group has left for San Francisco yesterday (17/7) on 12 am. As a follow up, the Indonesian CG in Chicago has also established coordination with Indonesian CG in San Francisco for the return of the group to Indonesia.
Initially, the choir group led by Raif Revassy had asked for sponsorships to many parties. Unfortunately, the financial assistance could not be disbursed promptly due to certain problems.
Previously, Gema Chandra Uncen Choir Group was invited by the committee of World Choir Games to join the international choral competition in Cincinnati, Ohio, on 4-14 July 2012.
Due to the difficulty in acquiring Jakarta – San Francisco – Cincinnati flight, they arrived late for the competition.
To avoid the same mistakes happened again in the future, Indonesian citizens are expected to report to the Indonesian Representative Office or relevant ministries about any visit of Indonesian delegation to foreign countries. (Source : Dit. Infomed/PLE/Nik)
