Not less than 26 promotional stands were presenting various Indonesian culinary delights and products at the Indonesian Bazaar, on Saturday (11/6) in Oerlikon Zürich. Around 350 guest were coming to this event, which was organized by Verein Indonesien Schweiz (VIS)/ Indonesia-Swiss Association.
H.E. Djoko Susilo, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Switzerland, and some Embassy staff attended this event. The Indonesian Embassy opened its consular and information desk as to provide consular service for the Indonesian and Swiss and to promote Indonesian tourism and culture, providing information on Indonesian tourism.
This event was aimed at promoting Indonesia through its varied and exotic cuisine as well as its handicraft and jewerly products to Swiss. This yearly event, is awaited by many Indonesian living in Switzerland, as well as Swiss, who love Indonesia. At this event, they can taste various culinary delights from Indonesia, such as lontong lontong sayur Jakarta, empek - empek Palembang, nasi campur Bali, nasi Padang, bakso, cendol, somay, kue lupis, etc, which were sold at reasonable prices. Furthermore, at this meet and greet event, visitors can also buy some Indonesian products, such as kebaya, batik, pearls, hand made products,etc.
The organizer, VIS, was founded in September 1987 with the intension to support and maintain the cultural and social links (except politics) between Indonesia and Switzerland. Several social cultural activities have been held in cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Bern. Today, VIS has about 228 members. Indonesians living and working in Switzerland are members as well as Swiss who lived once temporarily in Indonesia, or people who are especially interested because of having traveled and visited the country.
