Jakarta, January 29, 2010. Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights has put in effect Ministerial Regulation No. M.HH-01.GR.01.06 Year 2010 on Visa Arrival starting January 26th, 2010 (Jakarta, 26 January 2010) Provisions stipulated in the decree of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights are among others:
 
1. To implement the single-tariff system in which the tariff for VOA is USD 25 for 30 (thirty) days stay in Indonesia. Whereas previously two-tariff system were used for VOA, in which USD 10 was for 7 (seven) days stay, and USD 25 was for 30 (thirty) days stay.
 
2. That the VOA can be extended for 1 (one) time, no longer than 30 (thirty) days of stay, and can not be converted into a Limited Stay Permit.
 
3. VOA can also be given in the areas of designated Special Economic Zones
 
4. Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste citizen now is also eligible for this visa-on-arrival.
 
The implementation of this provision, is intended for all stakeholders such as, in the area of tourism and representatives of foreign countries residing in Indonesia, to have better understanding and trouble-free when coming to Indonesia. It is also expected with this policy, it will increase the number of foreign tourists coming to Indonesia.
