Working Visit Brunei Arts and Handicraft Training Centre (BAHTC) to Palembang and Bangka Island

​​​Delegation from the Brunei Arts and Handicraft Training Centre (BAHTC) accompanied by staff members of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, left Brunei Darussalam on 21 May 2015 for a weeklong working visit to Palembang City and Bangka Island, Indonesia in 22-26 May 2015. The delegation is comprised of 17 craft artists from the BAHTC lead by Mr. Zainal Arshad Haji Abdul Rahman, head of the BAHTC. The visit is held in cooperation with the local government of Indonesia in the city of Palembang and Bangka Island. 


From the working visit, the BAHTC delegation hopes to learn techniques as well as marketing strategies by visiting various traditional workshops such as woven songket workshops, traditional handicrafts centres, woven bamboo workshops, and many more. In addition to exchanging knowledge in handicrafts manufacturing and marketing, the visit is also aimed at promoting cultural exchanges and deepen social ties between the people of Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.
