One of the effective strategies in terrorism eradication is to detect, track and prevent the financing for terrorism acts. Such commitment requires understanding and support from all national components. This was the Government’s Statement concerning the Draft Law (RUU) on Prevention and Eradication of Terrorism Act Financing read by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Amir Syamsuddin, alongside Foreign Minister Marty M. Natalegawa and Minister of Finance, Agus Martowardojo, at the House of Representative this afternoon (14/06).In front of the House of Representative’s Special Committee chaired by former Deputy Head of Indonesian Police, Adang Daradjatun, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights declared that this RUU is a follow-up to the ratification of International Convention on Terrorism Financing Eradication in 2006 by Indonesia.“Indonesia as a law state considers it necessary to always adjust international standards in counter terrorism to the current domestic situation. So, every effort of counter terrorism always stays within the corridor of national legal system,” Minister Syamsudin said.In line with such view, the participating fractions wish the RUU to immediately enter the next level of discussion. PKS fraction reminded the government to address a number of potential polemics that could arise in the next discussion, such as people becoming wary of doing financial transactions. At the end of the meeting, the RUU was approved by all fractions to enter further discussion.
